Shilajit
Mineral pitch, Mineralpech, Goudron minéral, Pech mineral, -, -
Shilajit (Shilajatu) is considered one of the most potent Rasayanas in Ayurveda. It is formed over centuries through the decomposition of plant and mineral matter in the Himalayan mountains. Traditionally, it is believed to promote vitality, stamina, and overall resilience by supporting Ojas (vital essence). Shilajit is often used as a carrier (Yogavahi), enhancing the efficacy of other herbs.
In terms of tissue nourishment (Dhatu poshana), Shilajit is said to strengthen all seven Dhatus (Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja, Shukra), with particular emphasis on Asthi (bone tissue), Majja (nerve and marrow tissue), and Shukra (reproductive tissue). This broad rejuvenative effect is the reason why Shilajit is highly valued in Rasayana therapy and Vajikarana (rejuvenation and reproductive health).
