Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is native to India and Southeast Asia. It grows as a tall, aromatic grass with long, narrow leaves. Its leaves and stalks are used in culinary dishes, teas, and as essential oil. In traditional medicine, lemongrass is considered digestive, aromatic, and mildly calming. In Ayurveda, it is generally warming, pungent, and helpful for Kapha and Vata imbalances, with some cooling effect when used in teas. Lemongrass is also valued for its antimicrobial properties and is widely used in Southeast Asian cuisine.
