Pineapple
Pineapple, Ananas, Ananas, Piña, Ananas comosus, Anannasa (अनन्नास)
Pineapple is a tropical fruit with heating potency and sour-sweet taste. It stimulates Agni (digestive fire), helps clear Ama (toxins), and supports elimination. It contains enzymes like bromelain, along with vitamin C and antioxidants. Its sharp, penetrating quality can provoke Pitta if consumed in excess.
Small amounts of ripe pineapple may aid digestion and relieve gas. However, its sour, juicy nature can aggravate Vata if consumed cold or unripe.
Pineapple increases Pitta due to its heating virya and sharpness. It can cause acidity, inflammation, or skin issues if consumed excessively or with other sour foods.
Due to its light and sharp qualities, pineapple helps reduce Kapha, stimulates appetite, and clears mucus – especially in raw or juice form.

Low Agni & poor digestion, Mucus accumulation, Detox & weight management, Elimination (mild laxative)
High Pitta conditions (acidity, ulcers, rashes), Eating with dairy (incompatible), Unripe fruit (too sour, irritates gut), Fermented pineapple (heavily tamasic)
Fresh in chutneys or salsas with cooling herbs (mint, coriander)
Grilled or lightly stewed with spices (cardamom, black pepper)
Juiced with ginger and lime for Kapha stimulation
Avoid with yogurt or milk (incompatible combination)
Fresh raw: increases Pitta, stimulates Agni, best for Kapha
Stewed or grilled: slightly less heating, more Vata-friendly
With digestive spices: improves compatibility and reduces sharpness
Canned or fermented: increases tamas, less prana, not suitable in Ayurveda
